Have you ever been stuck on the side of the road due to a dead battery? If you have a set of jumper cables, it’s easy to get out of this sticky situation. All you have to do is charge up your dead battery. To do this, you’ll need the help of another driver with a car and a working battery. In addition, the battery should be good enough to charge itself and your battery, or you could wind up with two dead batteries if you’re not careful.

Jumper cables are necessary for jump-starting a car. They have two sets of clips located on both ends. The red clips attach to positive terminals on the battery. The black clips attach to the negative terminals. Before you jump-start your vehicle, both cars should be turned off and placed in the park position. Once your jumper cables are connected correctly, the second driver can turn on their car to start charging your battery with their own. The process should take between 15 and 20 minutes.
